QR code scam
Over the past few years, cyber frauds have increased significantly through phishing links, SIM swaps, vishing calls and more. Scammers are finding new ways to trick people and commit fraud.

UPI Scam Alert

To steal your hard-earned money, cyber fraudsters send you a QR code and make you scan the code by luring you to win the lottery. As soon as you scan the code and enter your security PIN, some money is withdrawn from your bank account and thus you become a victim of fraud.

Ways to avoid QR code scams

Never share your UPI ID or bank account information with unknown people.
If you are selling something on OLX or other sites then if possible you should transact in cash.
Never scan the QR code if you are receiving any amount.
Even while sending money, always double-check the details shown by the QR code scanner.

Bank of India said that scanning of QR code is done only for making payment and to receive money, scan the QR code only.
Do not scan the QR code at all unless you know who sent it.
Always keep the screen locked on your mobile and do not share your UPI PIN with others.
